Colne FC are celebrating a fantastic double success after Barney Wiggin and Harry Turner were named the North West Counties Football League First Division North Player and Goalkeeper of the Month respectively for September.

The awards recognise an outstanding month for the Reds, who recorded five victories from eight matches across all competitions, with impressive performances at both ends of the pitch.

Wiggin's Goalscoring Form Earns Recognition

Barney Wiggin has been rewarded for a sensational September in front of goal, finding the net nine times in eight appearances and picking up three Man of the Match awards along the way.

The forward, who spent time in the youth setup at FC Halifax Town, has become an increasingly influential figure in the Colne attack, producing a string of important performances throughout the month.

Among his highlights was a superb hat-trick in the 6–0 victory over Darwen, while he also scored the winning goal against Bacup Borough and found the net in both the FA Vase and Lancashire Challenge Trophy.

His goalscoring exploits have played a significant part in Colne's recent run of form, making him a deserving recipient of the league's monthly individual honour.

Turner Provides the Foundation

At the opposite end of the pitch, experienced goalkeeper Harry Turner has been equally influential, earning the First Division North Goalkeeper of the Month award following a series of commanding performances.

Turner featured in all eight of Colne's September fixtures, keeping an impressive five clean sheets as the Reds secured victories over Bacup Borough, Darwen, Squires Gate, Daisy Hill and Tow Law Town.

Across those eight matches, Turner conceded just ten goals, four of which came against Northern Premier League opposition Bamber Bridge in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy.

The goalkeeper brings considerable experience to the Colne squad, having previously represented Bacup Borough, Darwen, Barnoldswick Town, Ashton Athletic and West Didsbury & Chorlton. His footballing journey also includes time with Fleetwood Town as a youngster and a spell playing in Sweden.

Having joined the Reds at the beginning of last season, Turner has established himself as an important member of the squad, with his performances throughout September demonstrating his quality and consistency.

A Month to Remember for the Reds

Securing both the Player and Goalkeeper of the Month awards in the same month is a tremendous achievement for Colne FC and highlights the collective progress being made on the pitch.

While Wiggin has provided the cutting edge in attack, Turner's reliability between the posts has helped provide the defensive foundation for the team's results.

Both players will rightly take the individual plaudits, but their success also reflects the efforts of their teammates and the management team throughout September.

Everyone at Colne FC would like to congratulate Barney and Harry on their thoroughly deserved awards.

Two players. Two awards. One club. Up the Reds! 🔴⚪
