Colne enjoyed a resounding win against a young FC United side at Holt House on Tuesday.

A lively start saw both teams committed to attack as Luke Stowe came close after 16 minutes when the keeper deflected his shot wide with his outstretched foot. At the other end, Colne keeper Harry Turner did well to punch the ball clear off the heads of the visiting forwards as they threatened with a good attack.

After 22 minutes, the Reds made the breakthrough when Dan Ajidagba released Ben Horne on the left wing and his low cross was fired home by Stowe to give Colne the lead. And the Reds doubled their lead after 37 minutes when Jack Banks had an easy tap in after a cross from the right wing left the visitors' keeper stranded. Within a minute, Colne went further ahead when Joe Pennington made a great run through the visitors' defence and his cross gave Ajidagba the opportunity to score from close range for a 3-1 scoreline at half time.

Early in the second half, Colne carved out some great chances and Miles Storey's shot came off the crossbar before Jack Holt had two shots blocked in the goalmouth of the visiting team. But on the hour, FC United struck back with a well worked goal to reduce the arrears to 3-1.

Three minutes later, a great run into the area and cross by Tristan Fitzpatrick was knocked home at the far post by Storey for a fourth goal for the Reds. As Colne continued to dominate, Storey won the ball off a defender and raced clear to fire home for the Reds fifth goal after 68 minutes.

Colne forced a series of corners which had the visitors under pressure and Holt saw his 20 yard shot pushed over the bar with a fingertip save by the keeper. And on 90 minutes Horne added to the scoresheet with a sixth goal as he fired a shot into the net through a crowded penalty area. And two minutes into added time, Horne provided a great cross from the left wing for Colne's seventh goal. 7 FC United 1
